There are a variety of degree options, but they all offer foundation courses that cover the basics of supply chain management and operations, procurement transport networks inventory management, and warehousing. Some universities also offer specializations including e-commerce and retail logistics, transportation and logistical analysis Global Logistics Management and more.

Graduates are able to take on roles such as supply chain management and logisticians. They could also work in roles such as purchasing agents, industrial production managers and distribution managers. They may also seek certifications such as the Certified Supply Chain Manager (CSCM) or the Certified Public Contract Manager (CPCM) to boost their career prospects.

In addition, to the variety of courses offered take into consideration whether the institution is accredited by an organization such as the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation which recognizes 8,200 universities and 44,000 programs. Also, look for a school that has a suitable student-teacher ratio, as it will ensure that you get the best education.

Some colleges offer online or hybrid programs, which include classroom instruction and online learning opportunities. This type of program is popular with employees who have flexible schedules and are unable or unwilling to attend traditional classes. Some online-only programs offer associate or certificate degrees in addition to master’s or bachelor’s degrees.
