The educational field has changed dramatically over the last few decades. Online methods of learning have replaced traditional classes in a classroom. They combine the flexibility of prerecorded classes and class meetings held in real-time using software. Even these online methods may not be sufficient for students who prefer a classroom with real-time interaction.
Live learning online is a viable alternative to these other online learning strategies that allows students and instructors to communicate in real-time using a videoconferencing program like Zoom. The classes offer students the chance to ask questions, dispel confusion, and gain a greater understanding of the course material.
Although live learning offers many benefits, some students may struggle to adapt to this kind of online learning. This study examines the students’ willingness to learn live electronic stores and their benefits and identifies the key factors that determine it. The findings show that key influencing variables include motivation for learning and online communication, as well as self-directed learning ability. The researchers also conducted a multi-group analysis as well as a post-hoc tests to assess the differences between gender, undergraduate and graduate students as well as sub-degree students. The study found that postgraduates are better prepared for live learning than undergraduates and students with sub-degrees.
It is recommended that instructors set clear expectations regarding what students need to do and know before, during, and after a Live Session. This means providing additional materials like summary, gist quizzes concepts maps, outlines and study guides. Additionally, instructors should create exercises that reinforce the lessons that students have learned on their own – for instance, by review, practice, debating and analyzing.
